July 2010 (Philadelphia) - Established association management company (AMC), Fernley & Fernley, Inc., has been chosen to serve as national headquarters for the National Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists (NACNS). The transition of management responsibilities into Fernley & Fernley began immediately following the NACNS annual conference.
The NACNS is a not-for-profit nursing association formed in 1995 to be the national organization specifically dedicated to CNS issues and to promote the unique practice of CNS. Its mission is to enhance and promote the unique, high value contribution of the clinical nurse specialist to the health and well-being of individuals, families, groups, and communities, and to promote and advance the practice of nursing.
Prior to embarking on the extensive search for new professional management, the association’s Executive Committee performed a thorough evaluation of current and future organizational goals and determined that significant change in the overall management structure was necessary in order to achieve those goals. Fernley & Fernley was selected based on their experience in managing similar types of associations in the health care field as well as their reputation for excellence in association management as evidenced by their designation as a dual charter accredited AMC.
Ethan Gray will serve as Executive Director, working closely with the Board of Directors and Committee Chairs to implement organizational goals and initiatives. Monica Mobley, CMP will serve as Meeting Manager and be responsible for the successful planning and execution of the association’s annual conference scheduled for March 10-12, 2011 in Baltimore.
ABOUT THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF CLINICAL NURSE SPECIALISTS
The National Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists (NACNS) was an outgrowth of the spirit and commitment of regular attendees to an annual conference sponsored by the Indiana University School of Nursing. In the fall of 1995, the official launch meeting for NACNS was held in Indianapolis where attendees committed to participating in the association by establishing by-laws and appointing the first Board of Directors. In 18 months, the membership of NACNS grew from the original 67 to 530. Today, NACNS has grown to 2500 members.
