Philadelphia, PA - G.A. Taylor Fernley, CEO of Fernley & Fernley, a center-city based Association Management Company (AMC), welcomed Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter and 16 local CEOs to Fernley Headquarters last week to discuss issues facing business owners who operate in the city.

The meeting was hosted by a local chapter of Vistage International, a CEO peer organization operating in 15 countries with nearly 14,500 members. This intimate forum gave the Mayor an opportunity to engage in candid and direct dialogue with business owners about the recession, their businesses, and the city's current economic climate.

"To have a strong city you need a strong business community," said Mayor Nutter. "It's always helpful to hear from the business community about their concerns. We have a shared profession, of course. They’re CEOs of businesses and I'm the CEO of Philadelphia. We learn by talking and sharing."

The Mayor told the group he is considering changes in the local tax structure to make it more attractive to do business in Philadelphia which should encourage businesses to relocate here from the suburbs as well as from out of state.

"Fernley & Fernley clients represent more than 20 different business sectors and professions in a wide array of industries. They are international, national, regional, state, and local non-profit trade associations and professional societies that rely on the AMC to provide strategic visioning as well as operational management. "Collaborative meetings such as those with Vistage give us a unique opportunity to share knowledge and learn from the experiences of others which we can then pass along to our clients," remarked Taylor Fernley.

Local Vistage member companies represent $441 million in revenue and collectively employ 1,093 people in Philadelphia. CEOs in the group come from a variety of industries ranging from manufacturing, services and wholesale trade to commercial software and food distribution. Vistage CEOs meet monthly to confidentially discuss their businesses and learn from collective experience.

"I think what Vistage has to offer in this experience that I've had is a quiet, cordial exchange," said Mayor Nutter. "Whether it's about Philadelphia, in particular, or more of just a business issue in general, it's a wonderful opportunity."

"We were honored to have the Mayor visit our office and meet some of our dedicated associates," added Fernley. "Our company has deep roots in the city where we've operated for well over a century."
