PHILADELPHIA, October 2008 – Members of the Fernley & Fernley, Inc. G.I.V.E.S. Committee, led by Lindsay Groff, donated their time one Saturday in October on several projects at the Laura W. Waring School. Additional Fernley associates included Kent Van Amburg, Ethan Gray, Sarah Hagy, Rebecca Mathis, Melissa Dawson and Benjamin Daniel.

Principal Brianna Dunn requested assistance with numerous important tasks such as: organizing books in the library according to reading level, painting new room numbers outside of classrooms, creating games, like hop scotch and dodge ball in the schoolyard and starting a unique mural with the Philadelphia Mural Arts Program.

Each year, Greater Philadelphia Cares organizes Philadelphia Cares Day, a marathon day of service that gives local area children attractive, more functional learning environments. The Fernley & Fernley G.I.V.E.S. Committee has joined forces with other community members in support of this valuable program annually for several years. Volunteers left the school with an immense sense of accomplishment at the end of the day. Many signed on to volunteer throughout the year at the school in various capacities. Fernley employees agreed that in one day, you can make a world of difference.

The Fernley & Fernley G.I.V.E.S. Committee is a companywide initiative that supports numerous charitable organizations and causes throughout the year. For the most part the committee focuses its efforts on the Philadelphia region; however, it is currently collecting winter coats that will be donated to St. Marks Church in Harlem, NY. As part of an ongoing effort, traveling associates collect unused toiletries which are then donated periodically to local shelters.
