Philadelphia - The Society for Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine (SELAM International) has selected Fernley & Fernley, Inc., a Philadelphia based firm specializing in managing non-profit associations and professional societies, as its new management headquarters.
SELAM International was founded in 1998 for the purpose of supporting the advancement and promotion of women to executive positions in academic health professions through programs that enhance professional and career development and provide networking and mentoring opportunities.
A major SELAM Board initiative for 2007 was to identify a new management model that would provide the society with the resources necessary to enhance its current activities and plan for the future. The Board’s search led them to Fernley & Fernley, the nation’s longest established professional association management company (AMC).
Malvenia Avery has assumed the role of Executive Director and is charged with implementing the society’s goals of increasing membership, developing and implementing activities to support women in leadership positions, and continuing to enhance programming at their annual meeting.
