April 5, 2007 PHILADELPHIA, PA- Fernley & Fernley, Inc. has been retained by the National Railway Historical Society (NRHS) to assist them in their quest to modernize operations and build a solid foundation for the future. Both organizations are based in center-city Philadelphia.

The Leadership of the NRHS realized that major change was in order if the Society was to continue to provide valuable services, publications and programming to the rail enthusiasts who belong to this 72 year old organization. These “railfans” come together to admire, study and chronicle the railway industry purely for the enjoyment of it. Over the years, the Society has grown from humble beginnings with just 40 members to the astonishing number of 17,000 members and over 170 chapters worldwide today.

The first step in this multi-faceted project will be for Fernley & Fernley, Inc. to assume responsibility for the vast membership database. Implementation is scheduled to begin in late spring for a fall rollout. Fernley’s technical expertise and proven systems for effectively managing member-based organizations for over a century will provide the NRHS with a versatile, comprehensive, robust records management program. Phase two is slated to begin in early 2008 when Fernley & Fernley will take over daily management of NRHS financial and accounting functions.

“We are at a pivotal juncture in the history of the Society and realized it was time to seek out additional expertise that we did not possess. We consider ourselves fortunate to have found that expertise right in our own backyard,” commented Greg Molloy, NRHS President. “Partnering with Fernley & Fernley will enable the Society to move forward in leaps and bounds. Their knowledgeable staff and technological proficiency will help insure that the Society will be around for new generations of “railfans” to enjoy.

“It’s not often that a management company can have a profound affect on history, said Taylor Fernley, President & CEO of Fernley & Fernley, Inc. We are justifiably proud to have been selected as the management partner to the NRHS. We look forward to playing a role in supporting the mission of this unique Society dedicated to a single industry simply for the love of it.”
