Fernley Associates Support the Spirit of Giving in 2011

Fernley's GIVES Committee plans volunteer events throughout the year; however, they go into over-drive during the holidays. In December 2011 our associates helped support three vastly different events; packing food boxes at the SHARE distribution warehouse, collecting teddy bears for hospitalized kids, and collecting gloves, hats and scarves for local elementary school.

Fernley Associates Share the Holiday Spirit

In recognition of Fernley & Fernley's 125th Anniversary, we adopted a Philadelphia based non-profit organization.The "Self-Help and Resource Exchange" (SHARE) is a nonprofit organization serving a regional network of community organizations engaged in food distribution, education, and advocacy. SHARE promotes healthy living by providing affordable wholesome food to those willing to contribute through volunteerism. During 2011 many of our associates volunteered their vast talents to help SHARE advance their mission by serving on the Board, facilitating a strategic planning session, and assisting with marketing and communications initiatives.

President's Message � One Achievement, One Milestone, One Remarkable Year!

Many of us take a few moments at this time of year to reflect on our accomplishments and to start looking ahead to the coming New Year. 2010 was an exceptional year for Fernley & Fernley for a number of reasons, but two in particular standout. First, my son Kyle Fernley joined the family business earlier this year as the fifth generation to choose association management as their career path, and secondly we were selected by the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce as the "2011 Family Business of the Year." And as we look forward to 2011, we are extremely enthusiastic about plans to celebrate our 125th year in the association management business.

In the Spirit of Giving

There's a lot of talk these days about being socially responsible, but what does that really mean? Truth is, it can mean different things to different people and that's ok. To Fernley & Fernley, being socially responsible is one of our core values. Our associates understand that in the broad definition, being socially responsible means being aware of the impact we can have on others and making a conscientious effort to do so.

Jayne Grubb, Management Team Coordinator

Jayne first joined Fernley & Fernley as a summer intern in 2009 and quickly assumed the role of Intern Resource Coordinator. She has since graduated and become a permanent member of the Fernley Team. Although Jayne's current job responsibilities are in support of the Fernley Management Team, a significant portion of her job focuses on human resources. Jayne was recently nominated for the 2010 HR Rising Star Award which was quite an achievement for such a young professional.

Sarah Hagy, Executive Director

Fernley & Fernley is proud to announce that Executive Director, Sarah Hagy was recently selected to participate in ASAE & The Center for Association Leadership's Leadership Academy, a program that focuses on preparing young professionals for executive positions in the association and nonprofit industry. The 2011 class consists of 25 young professionals selected from a broad pool of applicants representing local, regional and national organizations. The Academy aims to develop young professionals into leaders and prepare them to serve their organizations in the changing work environment.

Monica Mobley, CMP

Monica Mobley, CMP is a member of the Fernley & Fernley Meeting Planning Department. She has been with the firm for two years and works with a variety of non-profit clients to plan and produce successful meetings, conferences, and tradeshows. Her clients are professional societies in the medical field and also trade associations. Monica is described as knowledgeable, personable, and professional by her colleagues.
