Summer 2009 Interns
Fernley & Fernley understands the importance of education and the value that internships have on today's college students. In our inaugural Intern Program, Fernley & Fernley has five highly motivated and skilled interns working for various departments within our firm.
Stephen Szczygiel - Stephen is a senior at Drexel University where he is pursuing a Degree in Hospitality Management with a minor in Business Administration. Stephen aspires to work in of one of the many new casino properties to open in the Philadelphia area within the next few years. His primary responsibility is to provide support to Fernley & Fernley's related company, Premier Meeting Solutions. Working for Premier, Stephen assists with the conference site selection process by researching and developing hotel summaries for clients as well as marketing the value of Premier's services and helping maintain the highest level of customer service and satisfaction. When Stephen is not working on Premier projects, he assists with member support and general administrative tasks for the American Medical Women's Association, the Society of Social Work Leadership in Health Care, and the Water and Sewer Distributors of America. On the weekends, Stephen enjoys fishing the seas of the Jersey Shore and working as a primarily self-taught handyman.
Jayne Grubb - Jayne is a senior at Eastern University in St. Davids, PA majoring in Business Management with a minor in both Marketing and Finance. Her career ambitions are to break into Human Resources and eventually become a Generalist for a small company. While interning at Fernley & Fernley she has been able to combine her classroom education with hands on experience. She uses her classroom knowledge to assist the VP of Human Resources and Chief Operating Officer as she is given responsibilities that have an impact on the company and its clients. Jayne is also responsible for coordinating and scheduling Intern resources throughout the firm to assist with a variety of short and long-term projects. In her time away from school and work, Jayne has become an avid golfer.
Chris Harrington - Chris is a senior at Kutztown University of Pennsylvania majoring in Communications specializing in Public Relations. He hopes to begin his career in a PR or Communications Firm in the Philadelphia area that deals with sports, travel, and events. He would also like to gain experience in event planning and media relations. From there, Chris plans to secure a position in PR within a major sports organization. He is currently the New Business Development intern where he assists in the development of proposals and presentations for prospective clients and performs a variety of marketing tasks including coordinating content for the e-newsletter and updating the web site. In his spare time, Chris enjoys watching sports programs and reading American War history novels.
Rajat Singh - Rajat is a senior at Drexel University working through their co-op program. He is majoring in Marketing with a minor in Management. After he graduates with his undergraduate degree, Rajat plans to pursue a career in the field of advertising. He also plans to continue his education by earning an MBA. Rajat's main area of responsibility is working in Fernley & Fernley's Accounting and Member Services Departments. When he is not at work he enjoys watching movies, playing basketball, collecting autographs, and reading.
Jonathan Uitto - Jonathan is currently attending Drexel University and working at Fernley & Fernley through their co-op program. He is a senior majoring in Finance. His career aspirations are to use his degree in an area which will enable him to excel and grow. At Fernley & Fernley, his main focus has been to support the Wood Machinery Manufacturers of America, but he has provided assistance on several other projects also. Jonathan has just eclipsed his one year anniversary here at Fernley & Fernley and has thoroughly enjoyed his learning experience here. When he's not working, Jonathan enjoys collecting and selling sneakers.
